Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler will released his long-awaited autobiography this June

Into the Void: From Birth to Black Sabbath — and Beyond will hit shelves in North America on June 6.

The legendary heavy metal bassman and lyricist recently revealed the cover image for his book, a photo of himself onstage cloaked in fog during Black Sabbath's '70s prime.

Geezer notes in a statement that calling attention to himself has never been in his personality, but he's spent his "entire life creating memories" so he finally decided to share them.

Publisher Coles Books describes Into the Void as a "rollicking, effusive, and candid memoir by the heavy metal musician and founding member of Black Sabbath, covering his years as the band's bassist and main lyricist through his later-career projects, and detailing how one of rock's most influential bands former and prevailed."

Sabbath sold more than 70 million records sold in its career (spanning 1968 - 2017), but more importantly, the band is celebrated as the first true heavy metal band, having inspired countless other artists.

While Geezer has been happy to let his higher profile bandmates Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi get the lion's share of credit for Sabbath's success, Geezer was a creative force in the band who's contributions had a paradigm shifting impact on music.

"Geezer Butler played a gigantic part in the band's renown, from suggesting the band name to using his fascination with horror, religion, and the occult to compose the lyrics and build the foundation of heavy metal as we know it."
