Bon Jovi Washes Dishes At NJ Restaurant Sending Meals To The Hungry

Jon Bon Jovi spent much of his Thursday washing dishes at his JBJ Soul Kitchen Community Restaurant in Red Bank, NJ.

While most of the northeast region self-isolates during the novel coronavirus outbreak, Bon Jovi's restaurant continues to provide healthy meals to people in need.

The Soul Kitchen pointed out via Instagram that, with touring on hold until further notice, its philanthropist Rock and Roll Hall of Fame co-founder was contributing where he could.

"If you can't do what you do... do what you can!" read a caption beneath a photo of Bon Jovi scrubbing a service pan.

While the restaurant normally welcomes volunteers, it clarified in the comments section that it isn't using volunteers right now "in effort to keep everyone healthy."

Bon Jovi has spent a good deal of his time at the restaurant over the past several days. On Sunday, he posted a photo of the dining room, writing: "We're helping out our neighbors in-need at the Soul Kitchen in Red Bank."

Jon and his wife Dorothea opened the first JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank in 2011 as a way of providing high-quality, nutritious meals to people in need with ingredients sourced from local farms and gardens. They have opened two other locations in the state since.

With no prices on the menus, patrons are asked to either make a donation of at least $20 or volunteer their time to help out in the restaurant.

While the JBJ Soul Kitchen is normally open to everyone, since New Jersey enacted restrictions on dining-in during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Soul Kitchen is operating with revised hours and a limited menu to meet an increased demand for meals.

"If you or your family are struggling for food, we are a resource for you," reads a statement on the JBJ Soul Kitchen's website.

Bon Jovi's 15th studio album, Bon Jovi: 2020, is due out May 15.
