Peter Gabriel has announce plans to tour the U.K. and Europe in 2023 to support a new album called i/o, his first record in over a decade.

A press release on the matter said "full details on the i/o album will follow."

Gabriel's last studio release was the "I'm Amazing" single in 2016, honoring Muhammad Ali. His last studio album was New Blood in 2011, which included orchestral versions of songs from throughout his career. His most recent album of new material was 2002's Up.

The "Sledgehammer" singer hasn't toured since 2014. And while it's been a long time since he's performed live, he said in a statement via his website that music has remained a focus in his life.

"It's been awhile and I am now surrounded by a whole lot of new songs and am excited to be taking them out on the road," he writes. "Look forward to seeing you out there."

While the new tour is expected to heavily feature material from i/o, details on Gabriel's website confirm that he also plans to draw from his "extensive catalogue of music, with hits, fan favourites and the unexpected."

Gabriel's live band will include longtime bandmates Tony Levin, David Rhodes and Manu Katché.
