Pearl Jam shared some "heart-wrenching" news over the weekend, revealing that they had to cancel two dates on their European tour due to illness in the band. The affected dates are July 2 and 3 in Berlin, Germany.
"Despite everyone’s best efforts, the band has yet to make a full recovery," the band wrote in a statement. "The impacts of this decision are not lost on us. We feel deeply that so many people spend their time, money, and emotional energy to get tickets and then to come see the band and it is heart wrenching to have to disappoint you. We also appreciate the many people whose hard work goes into making these shows happen."
"Please trust we never take these decisions lightly and try to do everything possible to show up for you all," they added. "We wish a reschedule had been possible for this tour leg and hope to come back to Berlin soon."
Although they didn't detail the illness, Consequence points out that frontman Eddie Vedder sounded hoarse during a show on June 25 in Manchester and told fans he got sick after high-fiving the crowd in Dublin.
Pearl Jam is scheduled to resume tour July 6 in Barcelona, Spain. After their European leg, the band plans to head back to the States in the summer. See their statement and a full list of US tour dates below.
